Changing text size on printed e-mail output? (3 posts)

Hi. I've just discovered this forum – hope it is OK to post questions here from a user perspective.

My mother-in-law has a Simplicity computer running Linux Mint and Eldy. She is 87, and this is her first computer, so I get to do some technical support… So far the Eldy approach has been very successful in getting her up and running with e-mail etc, so firstly a big thank-you to all the developers!

Now my question – we have an HP 2660 printer, but if we print from the Eldy e-mail reader, the text size is absolutely tiny. Printing from OpenOffice works as expected with full control over font sizes. I've tried changing the "characters per inch" and "lines per inch" settings in the Linux administration panel for the printer, but this makes no difference – I assume it is being set from the Eldy program. Is there somewhere that I can edit a configuration file or something to change the default text size on the printer?

    Many thanks,
    Simon

    Hi Simon,

Can I check something when you set up you Mum's account were you in the chat section and did you make a post including a statement about sertting this up for an 87 year old.
I ask this because this comment was attributed to Fintan-GB which would be me but I know I didn't say it… so I think this would be a bug!! If you think it was you I'll report it. – Sorry I have no thoughts regarding the printing issue
    Cheers

I don't think it was me. I filled in the "you in 140 characters" bit for the profile and started this thread, but that's it. I'm not even sure where the chat section is…

I also posted my query about printing on the support side of the Eldy website and got a reply that this was a known issue and would be fixed in an upcoming release. However this of course relates to the generic Eldy code, and the Simplicity box uses a somewhat customised version. I've asked the Simplicity tech support guys too, of course, and had an acknowledgement but nothing further…

    Cheers,
    Simon
