  Work on dutch translation (5 posts)

  I am working on a 100% translation of the lang/nl/lang.eldy file. The file in the Eldy 2.1 distrubution contains some errors, and is not complete, and does not have a consistent look and feel.

  I started my translation using some guidelines that I would like to share:
  - When using full sentences, these should be grammatically correct.
  - In questions to the user, use the polite form 'U' in stead of 'je/jij'.
  - For GUI items (labels, push buttons etc), a screen must look consistent and modest. So use consistent grammatical forms per GUI. Use only lower-case characters.

  My translation is almost ready. I'm in the process of going through the screens to verify that it all is OK.
  I expect to upload the language file next week.

  Please let me know if anyone of you is also working on the translation. Let's make sure to come up with the best approach and finally the best translation.

  I received an email from Thomas Vermeulen that he already has done some work on a dutch translation (the lang.eldy file). We will bring our work together and sort out the differences and discussion points, and review this with the dutch members of this 'The Netherlands' group, and finally we'll upload the updates.

  The discussions on the details of the dutch translation will be in dutch…

  I certainly agree on using english for the group forum topics.
  But it would be rather odd to use english for our 1-to-1 discussions on the subtleties of the dutch language ….
